Why Your Website Needs A Blog

If your website doesn’t already have a blog, it sorely needs one.

Blogs are effective tools for drawing eyeballs to your site, and customers to your business. Even if you aren’t a dedicated blog you can benefit from having one. There are three reasons for this: blogs drive traffic to your site, blogs can be easily monetized, and blogs have a beneficial impact on your search engine ranking.

Drive Traffic

One of the most important things when building a website is ensuring it is optimized for search engines. This means when someone puts  information and or keywords into the search bar, you are the one with enough of the right keywords to come up on top. It can be difficult to squeeze all those keywords in to your site content, and that’s where blogs come in.

Blogs will draw people to your site that might not have otherwise seen it. For example, if you are selling an e-book, then a blog will be able to help attract customers from around the world looking for authoritative answers to your questions. You have already established yourself as an expert on a topic, and a blog will allow you to continue to build on that.

Affiliate Links

Affiliate links are the answer to the question: how do I monetize my blog? So to continue with the example above, if you are selling an e-book and are looking to help improve the bottom line, then a blog that incorporates affiliate links is the best way to do it.

Affiliate links are links to products. If your customers or website visitors click on those links and purchase the item you have linked to, you receive a commission. With the e-book example, people come to you for your knowledge and expertise, and your product embodies those values. If you have a blog on your site that incorporates affiliate links, you can use the authority you command to recommend products to your customers, and have thus diversified your business.

Google Ranking

If there’s one thing search engines love, it’s new content. If you have a website and it hasn’t been updated in a while, chances are your search engine result position is suffering because of it. Rather than undertaking a total redesign and revitalization of your domain, simply including a blog that is updated what a certain degree of regularity will help improve your position.

Blogs are excellent tools and resources for your business. You don't have to post something everyday, but a consistent if sporadic upload schedule will produce results.
